 JMA Students Win HPS Art Contest

Grade 12 JMA students Tenia Franklin, Justina Thompson, & Nicolas Newman  won Hartford Public School’s Seasonal Greeting Card Contest. Their artwork will be showcased during the summer 2015-16 season. Winners were announced by Jackie Coleman, the Senior Executive Advisor for the Arts. With over 235 submissions, Central Office staff was blown away by all of the amazing talent in Hartford students. The Superintendent selected 12 cards- 3 for each season- that will be used year round as notecards. Each student winner will receive ten cards. Also, all student winners are invited to attend an event with Superintendent Dr. Narvaez in their honor on January 22, 2015. Winning images will be posted on the Hartford Public School website starting in December. Congratulations Tenia, Justina, and Nicolas!

JMA Students Interview Hartford's New Superintendent

Hartford Superintendent Beth Schiavino-Narvaez appeared as a guest on WNPR's hourlong "Where We Live" program with John Dankosky on Thursday Oct 30. Dr. Narvaez engaged in a lively and informative interview with Mr. Dankosky and three seniors from the Journalism and Media Academy, who, under the district's partnership with the Connecticut Public Broadcasting Network, take their final year of classes at the CPBN satellite campus, where WNPR is housed.
